Mix Amylo is an English artist, musician, composer and writer. She studied art at Metáfora, Barcelona, Accademia D’Arte, Florence, Cyprus School of Art, Paphos, and took classes at the Royal Academy and Hampstead School of Art in London.
Her art has been described as ‘beautiful strangeness’ and ‘trippy’, with its surreal, highly-detailed, psychedelic, graphic, precise, black and white, pointillist, circle-obsessed dreamscapes. She tries to capture a strange, original beauty in these other-worldly images, with her imagination hopefully drawing the viewer in, to discover more each time they look.
She uses recurring themes, such as a sitting female figure, weaving strands, chessboards, mountains, eyes, moons, ladders, trees, doorways, the female form and circles, to create a sense of busy solitude, calm in the darkness, an escape from the mundane. Mix works mainly in fineliner on paper, but sometimes acrylic paint on canvas, and collage.
